Shipping & Returns
Shipping destinations
Artefact currently offers shipping to Sweden, countries within the European Union, and selected destinations outside the EU.
Shipping costs are based on the destination and the size of the item. For Sweden and the EU, we offer four different flat-rate shipping categories.
Shipping within Sweden
For deliveries within Sweden, the shipping cost is based on the item’s shipping category and is shown at checkout.
Shipping costs include freight and transport insurance.
We select the most suitable and economical shipping method available for each order, taking into account the item’s size, weight, destination and handling requirements.
The shipping cost shown at checkout is the total shipping cost for the order, unless otherwise stated.
Shipping within the European Union
For deliveries within the EU, the shipping cost is based on the item’s shipping category and destination and is shown at checkout.

Shipping outside the EU
For destinations outside the EU, shipping is arranged separately and the shipping cost is not included in the product price.
At checkout, the shipping charge is therefore shown as 0 SEK and indicates that a shipping quotation is required. This does not mean that shipping is free.
Please contact us with your delivery address before placing an order, or contact us after placing your order, and we will calculate the available shipping options.
We will select a suitable and economical shipping method based on the item’s dimensions, weight, destination and handling requirements. The shipping quotation will include freight and appropriate transport insurance.
The shipping cost must be approved by the customer and paid separately before shipment.
Shipping method
We use established shipping and freight services and select the shipping method appropriate for the individual order. The carrier and service may therefore vary depending on the item’s size, weight, destination and other practical considerations.
Transport insurance is arranged through XXXXXXX and is intended to provide appropriate coverage for the value and nature of the goods being transported.
Where available, tracking information will be provided to the customer once the order has been dispatched.
Delivery times
Delivery times vary depending on the destination, shipping method and size of the item.
Estimated delivery times are provided where possible but are not guaranteed. Delays caused by the carrier, customs authorities or other circumstances outside our control may occur.
Furniture and larger items
Vintage furniture and other larger objects may require specialised or freight transportation. Delivery arrangements may therefore differ from those used for smaller items.
For larger items, the carrier may require delivery to the entrance, ground floor or another accessible location rather than carrying the item inside the customer’s home. Any specific delivery arrangements will be communicated where applicable.
Customs and import charges
For orders shipped outside the EU, the customer is responsible for any applicable customs duties, import taxes, VAT or other charges imposed by the destination country.
Artefact is not responsible for charges imposed by customs authorities or other authorities in the destination country.
Returns
Right of withdrawal
Customers have the right to return an order within 14 days of receiving the item, in accordance with applicable consumer protection legislation.
The customer must notify Artefact within 14 days of receiving the order if they wish to exercise their right of withdrawal.
Customers do not need to provide a reason for exercising their right of withdrawal.
Condition of returned items
The item must be returned in essentially the same condition in which it was received.
As our products are vintage and often unique, they must be handled with appropriate care during the return period. The customer may inspect the item to the extent necessary to determine its nature, characteristics and function.
The item must be returned using the same packaging and packing method in which it was delivered, or packaging providing equivalent protection.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the item is adequately protected during the return shipment.
Customers should retain the original packaging until they have decided whether to keep the item.
Return shipping
The customer is responsible for the cost of returning an item.
For larger furniture and other items requiring freight transportation, the customer is responsible for arranging and paying for suitable return transportation.
The return shipment should be made using a tracked and appropriately insured transport service suitable for the value, size and nature of the item.
Please contact Artefact before sending a return. We will provide the appropriate return instructions and return address for the particular item.
Condition and diminished value
Returned items must be received in essentially the same condition as when they were delivered, subject to the customer’s statutory right to examine the goods.
If an item is returned damaged, altered, incomplete, excessively worn, or otherwise in a condition that results in a loss of value beyond what is necessary to establish the item’s nature, characteristics and function, Artefact may make a deduction from the refund corresponding to the diminished value.
This includes loss of value resulting from inadequate packaging or handling during the return shipment.
Any deduction will be based on the actual reduction in the item’s value resulting from the condition in which it is returned.
Damage during delivery
Artefact is responsible for the item until it has been delivered to the customer in accordance with applicable consumer law.
If an item arrives damaged, the customer should contact Artefact as soon as possible and provide photographs of the item and its packaging.
Artefact will handle the matter with the shipping carrier and, where applicable, the transport insurer.
The customer should not arrange repairs, dispose of the packaging or return the item before contacting Artefact, unless otherwise agreed.
Damage during return transportation
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the item is properly protected and packed for return.
If an item is damaged during return transportation as a result of inadequate packaging or handling by the customer, Artefact may deduct from the refund an amount corresponding to the resulting loss in value, where permitted by applicable law.
If the item was properly packed and the damage occurred despite reasonable packaging and handling, the matter will be assessed based on the circumstances of the return shipment.
Refunds
Once the returned item has been received and inspected, we will process the refund in accordance with applicable consumer protection legislation.
The refund will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original purchase, unless otherwise agreed.
The cost of return shipping is the customer’s responsibility.
Where applicable, any lawful deduction for diminished value will be made from the amount refunded.
